Milos - the island of Venus
The harbour town is Adamas; one of the biggest natural harbours of the Mediterranean. Adamantas has played an important role in the island's history and economy. From there the road leads to Plaka, the Capital, and Kastro, rising on a hill above it. The ancient town of Milos was nearer to the entrance of the harbour than Adamas, and occupied the slope between the village of Tripiti and the landing-place at Klima. Here is a theatre of Roman date and some remains of town walls and other buildings, one with a fine mosaic excavated by the British school at Athens in 1896. Numerous fine works of art have been found on this site, notably the Venus of Milos, currently in Le Louvre museum in Paris, the Asclepius in London, and the Poseidon and the archaic Apollo in Athens. Other villages include Triovasalos, Peran Triovasalos, Pollonia and Zefyria the old capital of the island.
Milos flourished during antiquity thanks to its mining-rich soil. It was inhabited since Neolithic times where it grew wealthy thanks to obsidian, a black volcanic rock used for manufacturing weapons and tools, some traces of which have been found in the Peloponnese, in Crete in Cyprus, and as far away as Egypt.
Milos has a Mediterranean climate, rainy winters and warm to hot dry summers.
There are about 70 beaches on Milos Island. Hivadolimni Beach is the longest at about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi). Some of the rest of the beaches are Kapros, Pachena, Alogomantra, Agios Konstantinos, Mitakas, Firopotamos, Plathiena, Pollonia, Firiplaka, Paliochori, Provatas, Tsigrado, Agia Kyriaki, Agios Sostis. The North and South and bay beaches are the tourist attractions. The eastern and western beaches are very quiet.

It is 10 metres from the main bus stop and 500 metres from the archeological centre of the island (the catacombs, ancient theatre and where the Venus de Milo was found). A great start for exploration!
This studio was renovated in 2018. It's a detached unit on the back of the house with its own private terrace and entrance. We live on site so are there for any assistance but you will not feel our presence unless it is requested! |

Ferry Tickets
Athena Travel Services is able to book and issue your ferry tickets.
Following information is required in order to issue tickets:
Passengers' full names and date of birth
Cars' plate number (if there is one)
A valid mobile number
Please note that all ferry tickets must be prepaid in order to be issued!
Voyage duration:
Piraeus – Milos
Slow boats need 5hours; if they come directly, or up to 8 hours if they stop to other ports, too.
Fast ferries need 2,5hours; if they come directly, or up to 4 hours if they stop to other ports, too.
Crete (Heraklio) – Milos
Usually there is only one slow boat connecting Crete and Milos and the trip takes 10 hours.
During July and August there is a boat 3 times a week; usually every Sunday, Thursday and Friday.
Cycladic Island – Milos
Depending on distance, a slow boat needs from 2 – 9 hours and a fast ferry 1 – 6 hours
More over we will arrange private sailing boat or yacht charters for any individual or group of people according to your travel wishes.

Private tours by car
Athena Travel Services offers you the opportunity to have a private tour by car (2- 8 passengers).
Our driver and guide will drive you around the island and follow a sightseeing route tailor-made to your interests.
When Milos is simply a stop over island while you are hopping around the Cycladic islands by private boat, we can offer a tour Around Milos, to show you the most popular and beautiful sights, beaches, museums etc.
On the other hand if you are interested in the important ancient history of Milos, an experienced guide will take you to all the important spots such as the Ancient Theater, the ancient town of Filakopi etc and he/she will give you all the information about the ancient inheritance of our island.
Finally we can also arrange a religious tour of the island by car. Milos has been declared a Holy Island by the Orthodox Church of Greece. A guide will take you around the churches and chapels of the island, to the ecclesiastical museum and also to the Catacombs and will provide you with all the information you would like to have.

About Athena
I was born and raised on the island of Milos — a place where beauty, stillness, and authenticity shape everyday life. It was here that I first learned what hospitality truly means: a blend of warmth, discretion, and genuine care.
Athens became my next chapter. There, I studied Tourism Business Management and the Italian language at the Italian School of Athens, gaining knowledge, perspective, and the confidence to imagine something of my own. Yet, even as I embraced the rhythm of the city, I always knew my path would eventually lead me back home.
Returning to Milos felt natural. It was the moment my childhood dream quietly began to unfold — the dream of becoming a “tourist.” As a little girl, I would watch the travelers passing by my father’s shop, carrying their large backpacks, and I felt my imagination drift to places I had never seen.
Sometimes, I would strap a baby carrier from the shop onto my back and imitate them, playing a game that, without knowing it, predicted my future.
This is how Athena Travel was born — not only from professional ambition, but from a deep love for my island and for the people who choose to discover it.
Today, through our services, I continue this personal journey — offering experiences shaped by refined simplicity, attentive service, and the authentic spirit of the Cyclades. Experiences that stay with our guests not only for what they see, but for what they feel.
